Tortured Minds

Yesterday I had the strange urge to record something. It didn’t matter what, I just wanted to lay down some tracks. So I succumbed to my urges and opened up Logic, not knowing what in hell I was going to play. So I grabbed my bass, hooked it up and just fiddled around for about 7 minutes. I then hooked up my guitar and did the same thing.

Lately I’ve been fascinated with dissonance, especially the tritone interval, which is considered to be one of the most dissonant intervals in western music. My fascination with dissonance prevails throughout this weird jam I did yesterday. The bass really carries the melody (or whatever you want to call it), the guitar is mostly there to add texture. The guitar in particular is very abrasive, especially with the weird filters I put over it.

Let me be the first one to say that this is not good. It’s not meant to be good. I did both the bass and guitar track in one take without having any idea what I was going to play. It’s just an experiment with tritones and dissonance. So…enjoy?
